School Shootings and Prescription Medications

Tragedy at Robb Elementary School in Texas

A mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Texas left nineteen children between the ages of seven and 10 and two adults dead. This school shooting comes just ten days after 10 people were killed in a mass shooting in Buffalo, New York. (Mass Shootings)

History of Mass Shootings

I saw a post yesterday on a social media platform indicating that in the United Kingdom there have been no mass shootings since guns were outlawed around 1996.  In 1996, Thomas Hamilton killed 16 children and a teacher in Dunblane, England.

That’s actually not true.  There were the Massereene Barracks shooting in 2009, the Cumbria shootings in 2010, the Northumbria shootings in 2010,  the Moss Side shooting in 2018, the Plymouth shooting in 2021.

So, after I saw this claim about the UK having no mass shootings after the gun ban and I found some, I thought the next step would be to find out what the situation had been before 1996.  That information has been much more difficult to find.  So far, one I’ve discovered happened in 1987, in Hungerford, England.  Sixteen deaths.  The only other one I could find that is not a murder/suicide situation was the Monkseaton shootings where one person was killed and 14 injured on April 30th 1989.

One other, The Whitehouse Farm murders.  Five deaths.  August 1985

There are numerous other shootings in the UK which are, from what I could find, all connected to fighting between the Irish and the Irish and the Irish and the British.  War and gang type shootings.

So, my conclusion here, based on my initial research is that the gun confiscation in the UK made very little difference to the situation of mass shootings.  No significant change in number of these types of shootings and deaths from before the gun ban and afterwards.

A similar situation happened in Australia.  There was a violent mass shooting there in 1996.  Port Arthur: 35 dead, 23 wounded.  Truly, a horrific tragedy.  Several years ago a couple of things made me research “the before and after” again.  A claim was made by the Prime Minister of Australia about 10 years ago(?) that there had been zero mass shootings since the gun ban after the 1996 massacre.  Again, false information.  Surprise, surprise -- a politician lied.

There have been numerous mass shootings since.  None nearly as massive as Port Arthur but deadly just the same.  And another mass killing in Australia about 15 years ago happened with a knife!

Again, I checked for mass shootings before 1996 in Australia and found some.  But there was no dramatic change, no significant difference before the gun ban and after.  Still lots of shootings.  The claim that mass shootings were solved by the banning of guns in Australia is a bit of a stretch.

One other point on this is a comedian I saw some years back, around 2017, comparing the United States to Australia.  The reduction of gun murders in Australia had gone down apparently by 50% since 1996.  About 30 years after the fact of the massacre this comedian is in the USA asking why Americans would not want the same reduction in gun murders as Australia.  Good question!

I decided to see what the comparative data was for the gun murders in the USA. For the same period of time.

Per USA government statistics, the gun murders had gone down, in the same period of time by 49%.  With no gun ban.

Gun Violence and Gangs

Another interesting statistic is the fact that gun violence is gang related:

“Black males had the highest firearm homicide rate … Black boys and youths aged 0-19 were over 14 times more likely to be killed by firearm homicide than White (non-Latino) boys and youths, while Black men aged 20-34 were nearly 17 times more likely to be killed by firearm homicide than their White (non-Latino) counterparts.”

Black Males and Firearms

Violence in America

And put this data together with:

“According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), gang homicides accounted for roughly 8,900 of 11,100 gun murders in both 2010 and 2011.”

Gang Homicides

And:

“…That means that there were just 2,200 non gang-related firearm murders in both years in a country of over 300 million people and 250 million guns.”

Anti-depressants and Drug Users

Guns Or Drugs?

Interesting point is that confiscating guns hasn’t reduced knife fatalities in UK schools.  There has been an ever-increasing number of school stabbings in the UK, of which there was a record number just last year (30 teenage homicides).  An August 3, 2021 report says:

"In March 2019, knife crime in the UK reached a decade high; and tragically many victims where under 18. In 2019, 45,632 young people aged 10-17 were sentenced for carrying a knife or offensive weapon in England and Wales, with over 1000 of these weapons found on school property. Everything from machetes, hunting knives, samurai swords and even a modified highlighter pen were seized by police on school grounds, with the youngest offender just 4 years old.

Since 2015, assaults taking place in public sector schools have increased by 72%, with physical violence not only being committed against fellow pupils but also teachers. Recent data suggests that nearly one in four teachers have been physically attacked by pupils, with as many as two thirds of teachers considering leaving the profession because of verbal abuse and threats of violence from students. A staggering 18% of teachers report being threatened with a weapon by pupils, with 3% claiming a weapon was brought into school in order to follow through on the threat."
Knife Crime in the UK

Knives instead of guns.  Hmmm.

So, this begs the question, is it the drugs and not the specific weapon? Prescription medications? Anti-depressants? Anti-anxiety pills? Street drugs?

There is little doubt that there is a huge connection between gun crime and other types of crime in general and drugs, particularly with inner city gangs.

Mass Shootings

When talking about outrages such as mass shootings, there is a lot of emotion attached to the subject, particularly when they involve children.  Many of the school shootings are committed by young people, many if not all of whom were on prescription medications.  These individuals were given mind altering(anti-depressants, anti-anxiety, etc.) medications/drugs that have the stated side effects of ‘suicidal ideation’ and ‘depression’.  Side effects are all listed right in the DSM VI*.  These side effects can also be found with a simple search online.

Almost one for one, discussions come up of the young people that are doing the shootings as having mental issues and being on one sort of prescribed medication or other.  And sometimes having come off them recently, which is worse.

This information is not always easy to find, partially due to privacy medical rules. But it is an important factor considering the potential nasty side effects of these prescriptions.

So, with many fingers pointing at guns as the source of all the violence, no studies get done.  It seems that either, those in power don’t want to know or they are just swept up in the mass emotion of these incidents.

What happens if these types of shootings are compared also to mass killings with a knife or someone driving a car into a school playground.  Are these people also on some mind altering prescription medication with the side effects of suicide ideation and violent behaviour?

Or do the powers that be just want to go along with the masses and ban guns and hope for the best?  That solution hasn’t worked places like Chicago.  They have the highest murder rate in the USA and some of the strictest gun laws.  Funny thing is that the murders there are again perpetrated by criminals, not law-abiding citizens.

As hard as it is, we have to objectively ask the right questions, taking the emotion out of the equation.

And just remember how much money is behind the marketing of these prescription medications/drugs  and also illegal drugs.  And the profits!

James Bond and Big Pharma

James Bond and Big Pharma

Who is The Real Villain?

Anthony Fauci? Goldfinger?  Bill Gates?

James Bond villains pale in comparison to the unfettered evil displayed by the malevolent bipeds controlling the pharmaceutical industry.  If you are looking for the devil on Earth, look no further.  Poor excuses for human beings, these individuals have been directly responsible for the deaths of millions.  They deserve a spot next to the likes of Hitler, Pol Pot, and Stalin.  There is no kindness here.

I’m about 150 pages into Robert F Kennedy’s book, ‘The Real Anthony Fauci’.  It is ostensibly about Fauci.  But really, while naming names and connections, fully annotated, the pages of the book display how rulers in the military/industrial complex and the pharmaceutical companies in the United States and other countries waste hundreds of thousands and even millions of lives [read more]for money and power.  For them, there is never enough.

Cures for Covid in abundance.

Kennedy outlines how certain individuals within and controlling Big Pharma around the world suppress proven, safe solutions to coronaviruses that would have cut the death rate in countries like the United States by 80% or more and without the devastating effects of lockdowns.  Kennedy documents how this suppression of data and the creation of propaganda about the “harms” of entirely safe drugs started even before the rest of world became aware of Covid 19.  Joseph Goebbels would be so proud.

The book documents the timelines of propaganda attacks on safe effective drugs like Ivermectin and Hydoxychloroquine."

All these deaths to justify the need for more money and power by a few individuals that know that they are above the law.

At the moment of this writing, most places are sold out of the hard cover book.  One can easily purchase and download the digital version.  A couple of benefits of the digital version is that one can click on the annotations and go directly to the source of the information.  Apparently, they will also update the book through a QR code as well as more information becomes available.

Big Pharma and Addiction

Big Pharma and Addiction

Big Pharma is in the Addiction business.

Not the healing business.

We watched the last episode of ‘Goliath’ on Prime Video last evening.  With Billy Bob Thornton in the lead and J. K. Simmons playing the sociopathic owner of the pharmaceutical company.

This last season of the show outlines how the head of the pharmaceutical company aggressively marketed extremely addictive opioids. For money.

Simmon’s character George Zax, is a sociopath who has an answer for everything.  The character he plays very likely believes his own lies.  (Brilliant cast and acting all through.)

There is a much happier ending in the TV series than real life.

Customers for Life

Make no mistake -- pharmaceutical companies are not in the business of healing.  It has been said before, but they want customers for life.

A case in point is Purdue Pharma, owned by the Sackler family.  Purdue Pharma murdered and destroyed millions of lives in the USA with their ruthless marketing of OxyContin.  The Sacklers became quite famous when Purdue Pharma pled guilty in 2020 to three felony charges involving fraud, conspiracy, and kickbacks. The US Department of Justice commented that “The abuse and diversion of prescription opioids has contributed to a national tragedy of addiction and death …”  Purdue Pharma was dissolved in 2021 and the Sacklers ordered to turn over billions of dollars to address the opioid epidemic.  That will put a dent in the family fortune but still leaves these people very wealthy.

What is less known is the fact that any number of Big Pharma’s products could easily have been inserted into the story line to tell the same story.

Opioids, under their many labels (Hydrocodone, Hydromorphone, Percocet, Methadone, morphine, Oxycodone, Fentanyl, Vicodin, Demerol, Codeine, Opium, just to name a few), have been universally recognized for many years as being highly addictive.  Originally used for extreme pain, they have been marketed as ‘pain management’ over the last 20 years.

I have listed below just a few products of the pharmaceutical industry that are equally and often more addictive than the opioids in the television show.

Addictive Pharmaceuticals:

Alprazolam/Xanax - according to the CDC more than four times as many Americans dies in 2015 than 2002 overdoses that involved benzodiazepines.
Klonopin (Clonezepam)
Valium (Diazepam)
Adderall (Alprazolam)
Ritalin

Ativan (Lorazepam)
Librium (Chloridiazepoxide)
Phnazepam
Ambien (zolpidem)

Big Pharma and their henchmen (and women), the prescribing psychiatrists and doctors, have been marketing these drugs as beneficial and necessary for life maintenance.  They have been marketing these drugs directly to consumers for years and years.  They use TV ads and magazine ads; convincing the masses of the safety of these horribly addictive products. And convinced they are.

One of the nasty issues with these drugs, besides the fact the fact that they mess with your functionality is that they are so addictive.  It can take weeks and months to taper off.

Kelly Brogan, a psychiatrist, has several videos and articles on the addictiveness of these drugs and the dangers of withdrawal.

A quote from an article called ‘The Taper’ on Mad in America website:

Part of what has scared me straight about ever starting a patient on an antidepressant (or antipsychotic or mood stabilizer) again is bearing witness to the incredible havoc that medication discontinuation can wreak. This can range from transient headache, gastrointestinal distress, and irritability to violence, suicide, physiologic disability, and diffusion of identity.”  Kelly Brogan, MD, ABIHM  Nov 22, 2013

Another couple of quotes from an interview on the website Anxiety: Natural Solutions

“Even when we did [pharmaceutical withdrawal] responsibly, I was essentially running an outpatient rehab. I mean from neurologic symptoms to psychiatric symptoms, physical symptoms, autoimmune diseases flaring, patients developing impulsive behavior and even violence. It was beyond description.”

“When I taper patients off of meds, I normally do what’s called a test dose decrease, which often is around 20% to 25% of the dose. We come down by that. Again, this is after we’ve done the initial months at least of fairly strict dietary compliance working with relaxation response, doing 20 minutes or more of movement, working on sleep. All of this has to happen first. Then we begin, and so we start with a test dose. If we see in about 2 to 4 weeks that test dose is completely well-tolerated, meaning you don’t even notice the difference, then we probably can work in bigger increments. That’s actually a godsend. These tapers, when we’re working in 10% and less doses, could take literally years.”

- Medication Tapering and Withdrawal: an interview with Dr Kelly Brogan - Trudy Scott

It can take weeks, months and years for a doctor to help wean someone from these drugs.  The dangers of doing this incorrectly can be disastrous.

There are, though, two major problems preventing people withdrawing from these drugs at all. One, doctors and psychiatrists are not taught anything about health and how exactly to get people off these drugs. And two, the real problem is that those that are making billions of dollars from these highly profitable drugs just don’t want that to happen.

Safe and Effective?

Big Pharma just keeps marketing these drugs as ‘safe and effective”!

Check out the real life scenario.  The ‘Goliath’ TV show, I believe, was based on Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family, those wonderful people that created a swath of death through America with Opioids.  Search images of them and you will find happy, smiling faces.

To me, if you were looking for the devil on Earth, any one of the Sacker family would be a good stand in.

Again, though, you could insert any of the previous ‘mood altering’ drugs mentioned earlier and have the exact same story.  The marketing and the way these drugs are advertised allows Big Pharma to spread a thin veneer of respectability over something that is inherently evil and horribly destructive.

And I’m being nice.

If one needs more information on tapering off pharmaceuticals, you should really get and read Dr. Peter Breggin’s book Psychiatric Drug Withdrawal

Immune System and Drugs

Immune System and Drugs

Your Immune System and the Drugs You Take

How do drugs, both prescribed (legal) and street drugs affect your immune system?  Long term side effects and short term side effects?

How does this affect the overall health of people in the USA and Canada. The United States of America comes 37th on a list of healthiest countries in the world.  Behind many third world countries.  Per capita, the USA spends more than any other country in the world on Health Care.  What part do drugs play in this scenario?

According to Wallstreet.com:

"America makes up about 5% of the world’s population – but accounts for approximately 27 percent of the world’s drug overdose deaths, according to Vox. The culprit? Prescription opioids like Oxycontin, tramadol, methadone, morphine, fentanyl or Vicodin."

I was speaking to my son recently about vaccines.  I said to him that there was some evidence that vaccines might adversely affect the immune system; that there may be a relationship with vaccines and the rapid increase of the incidence of autism over the last 30 years.  He allowed for that but pointed out the whole co-relation/cause thing.  He point out the increase of anti-depressants and anti-anxiety drugs, and the like, over the same period of time.  He thought that these types of drugs could just as easily, or even more likely, be the cause.  Part of the issue here is that the people that might do the testing or studies to establish cause/effect here appear to not want to know!

How many women took Ritalin growing up in 80s and 90s and then had children?  Did Ritalin, and later drugs like Prozac, Zoloft and others, affect their immune systems and then the immune systems of their newborns?   Studies have proven that even drugs like marijuana can lessen sperm count in men.  What other reproductive issues can a drug like this cause?

When I grew up only movie stars took anti depressants?

Per the CDC

“During 2015–2018, 13.2% of adults used antidepressants in the past 30 days (Figure 1). Use was higher among women (17.7%) than men (8.4%).”

This is huge! How many of these women were taking these drugs when they were pregnant?  Or breast feeding?  How are the immune systems of the babies affected by these drugs?

Oxycontin and Other Pain Relievers

The use of pain relievers (legal) has at least doubled in the last 40 years.  The intake of SSRIs doubled from 1998 to 2010.

Since 1990, 450,000 people have died from opioid overdoses.  How many users are there that don’t die? This from both prescribed and street use of various opioids.  How do these drugs affect one’s immune system?  Short term? Long term?

I know people that eat Tylenol like candy.  In both the USA and in the United Kingdom Tylenol is the biggest cause of liver failure.

“acetaminophen* overdose is the leading cause [of Acute liver failure] in the United States”  NCBI Liver Failure

(*acetaminophen: an analgesic drug used to relieve mild or chronic pain and to reduce fever, often as an alternative to aspirin. Proprietary names include Tylenol.)

The Liver?

How does this extensive damage to the liver affect one’s immune system?

“The liver is a key, frontline immune tissue. Ideally positioned to detect pathogens entering the body via the gut, the liver appears designed to detect, capture, and clear bacteria, viruses, and macromolecules.”  The Liver and Immune System

Other medicines can affect one’s liver and thus the immune system:

“Some drugs, such as statins** (used to treat high cholesterol levels), can increase the levels of liver enzymes and cause liver damage (usually minor) but no symptoms.”
Merck Liver Disorders

(**Statin: “any of a group of drugs that act to reduce levels of fats, including triglycerides and cholesterol, in the blood.”)

Study Drugs

College and University students are known to use drugs like Ritalin and Adderall to help concentrate and stay awake to study.

These commonly used drugs such as Adderall can severely affect the health of the liver.  Adderall is an amphetamine. This from an article at NCBI on amphetamines and the liver.

“More importantly, several amphetamines have been associated with clinically apparent and sometimes severe or even fatal instances of acute liver injury. These cases typically follow intravenous use, particularly when given in an excessive single dose. The synthetic amphetamine methylenedioxymetamphetamine (MDMA, but known familiarly as “ecstasy”) has been implicated in the largest number of cases, many of which were severe and led to acute liver failure and death.”

Much evidence has come to light over the last 20-30 years as to how antibiotics have affected the immune system.  A necessary evil sometimes.  The problem with antibiotics is that they kill good bacteria as well as bad.

From JAMA Pediatrics

“This study found that all commonly prescribed antibiotics during infancy are associated with subsequent diagnosis of allergic disease.

Administration of more than 1 class of antibiotic was associated with increased risk, most notably for asthma and allergic rhinitis. This association persisted even after adjusting for the total days of antibiotics supplied.”  JAMA Pediatrics

So, ask your doctor questions.  Your doctor is not infallible.  Find out the short and long term affects of the drugs he prescribes.  Do your own homework; it is pretty easy to find side effects of pretty much any drug online.

Street drugs, even marijuana, well, that’s a little trickier.  Opioids, (Oxy for example), that you buy on the street will not likely have a list of ingredients, telling you how much fentanyl is in it.  Even so called medical marijuana has been found to have mold which can shut down your liver.  Caution your children on the use  of study drugs such as Adderall and Ritalin.  Instruct them on how these drugs can affect one’s immune system over a short or long period of time.

Good health is your best defence!
